Last weekend we attended the International Congress of canoeing that took place in Catoeira (Pontevedra).

We presented two communications; the first one referred to the methodological level proposal of canoeing training, and the other communication, showing the performing of a pilot study in which the Kinematic and quantitative results on the stroke of canoeists were shown, which demonstrates that just a minute of Guidebow-using means a direct transfer for the changing of angle to that athlete, then, without Guidebow.

In addition, we were in a booth with a kayak and a canoe ergometer for the different coaches, and national selectors of different countries will try it too.

There were many tests and we received praise and rave reviews. Now, it is starting to be recognized in countries such as Finland, Germany, Sweden, China, Singapore, South Korea, France, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Hungary, Slovenia and some South American countries.

In the shown learning methodology, we explain how do we construct the shovelful to children from ages between 7 and 10 years in 20 minutes, and, for the first time worldwide, we present a labour in two different ways, but parallel to make possible working with these children in initiation before entering the water with a canoe. We get rid of natural selection in learning and we minimize the negative emotional impact of the first experiences of children when entering the water.

In the next study, we demonstrate the way in which in a very short time people can transfer a kinesthetic change of the elbow angle very assimilated with Guidebow. This possibility opens the path to understanding how the brain unconsciously can change the pattern of poor movement. The athlete can activate more the cross muscle chain (rear back muscles) and transmit better the energy.

This pilot study includes only the sample of three men and three women who shovel just a minute to observe the change in the angle. In a near future,  a more extensive and comprehensive study on the same effect will be done.

Although we don’t show anything about the canoe in studies, it is clear that there is a similar pattern in this embodiment more specific for the upper arm,  in which we blocked the arm and we managed to convey more kinesthetic  information to the athlete of what originally can be provided.
